VoIP Communication for Catholic Bishop's Organisation for Development Cooperation
MISEREOR is mandated by the Catholic Church in Germany to fight the causes of hardship and misery as manifested chiefly in countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America in the forms of hunger, disease, poverty and other forms of human suffering. For the coordination of these worldwide projects a frictionless communication is essential.
Supported by AXIANS, Misereor implemented an IP based Alcatelcommunication solution in its new service center at Aachen. Within six weeks the existing IT infrastructure was adapted to the new application.A failproof Voice over IP solution was installed beginning with access for 50 staff members in the service center. In the future also 300 staff members of other departments will profit from the advantages of computer based telephony (CTI) and Unified Messaging Services (UMS) that combine communication channels like VoiceMail, Fax and SMS in a useful way. Already existing Misereor applications like data base and billing systems could be integrated into the new solution. In the future mobile staff members will be able to have remote access to the VoIP platform and become active in the service center from their home offices.
